Restoration
We specialise in stone restoration projects, which can sometimes catch the inexperienced contractor out. Architects will quite often approach us before a specification has been written to get our advice on the stonework repairs required. We won the Stone Restoration category in the Stone Federation Great Britain Natural Stone Awards 2004 for our work at St. Magnus Cathedral, Orkney - rose window.

Perseus and Andromeda Fountain

We also won a commended in the same category for our restoration of the Perseus and Andromeda Fountain at Witley Court for English Heritage. Restoring this fountain to its former glory was a demanding project. The making of a new arm for Perseus was carried out by first tying wire mesh round a scaffold pole that took the place of the lance he was holding. Then clay was moulded around this to take the shape of the arm.

Once approved by the client and architect the production of the new stone arm went ahead at the workshop. Finally the arm was brought to site to fix.
